Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she would like to be an actor and for several years, she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught performing and singing. She had already performed in several Stagecoach or school shows before she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It broke all records on the opening weekend and numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. The film was praised by critics, as were the performance of three new actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her impressive performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of an Film.
